Anantnag, Jan 10 : As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved major successes by arresting five peddlers and recovering contraband substances in separate operations.

In the first incident, during a routine Naka checking at Halmulla Sangam, a Wagon-R vehicle (JK01M-4136) was intercepted. Upon inspection, 31 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from three individuals identified as Javid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab. Gani Sheikh of Kuchmulla Tral, Mohd Altaf Sheikh, son of Gh Mohd Sheikh of Kanihama Nowgam Srinagar, and Mohd Haroon Parry, son of Mohd Sadiq Parry of Charsoo Awantipora. The accused were arrested on the spot, and the contraband, along with the vehicle, was seized.

In another operation, a truck belonging to Jupiter Cargo Transport Company, Srinagar (JK01AS-5073), was stopped for inspection at Jablipora NHW near Fruit Mandi. The search led to the recovery of 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate.

The truck driver, Javaid Ahmad Shah, son of Mohd. Yousuf Shah, and the conductor, Shabir Ahmad Shah, son of Ali Mohd Shah, both residents of Bahoo, Awantipora, were arrested. The truck was seized, and a case has been registered.

These actions underscore the unwavering commitment of Anantnag Police to combat the drug menace and protect the community.

The Public is encouraged to report any information related to drug trafficking or related activities to aid in the mission of creating a drug-free society.
