Kargil, Apr 15: The AN-32 Kargil Courier Service concluded its seasonal operations on Tuesday, successfully airlifting 41 passengers from Jammu to Kargil in its final flight for the year.
The crucial air service, which commenced on February 8, 2025, following the winter closure of the Zojila Pass, has facilitated the transportation of 3,192 passengers over the past two months. This seasonal air connectivity has proven vital in maintaining access between Ladakh and the rest of the country during harsh winter conditions.
According to official data, a total of 289 passengers were airlifted from Kargil to Jammu, 1,370 from Jammu to Kargil, 322 from Kargil to Srinagar, and 1,211 from Srinagar to Kargil.
Passengers have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the administration for the smooth and timely operation of the service. They acknowledged the efforts of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, LAHDC Kargil headed by the Chairman/CEC, Member of Parliament (MP) Ladakh, Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Commissioner/Secretary Civil Aviation, Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil, Chief Coordinator of the AN-32 services, as well as all Liaison Officers in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kargil, and the dedicated staff at the DC office.
The AN-32 Kargil Courier Service continues to play a pivotal role in bridging connectivity gaps and ensuring the mobility of residents during the unforgiving winter months.
