Baramulla, Jun 6: Chief Principal Census Officer (CPCO)/ Director Census Operations, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Amit Sharma, along with Principal Census Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Baramulla SF Hamid, on Saturday chaired a review meeting at Dak Bungalow Baramulla to assess the preparedness and progress of the ongoing House Listing Operations (HLO) being conducted from June 1 to June 30, 2026, as part of the Census 2027 exercise.

At the outset, Officers briefed the Chair on the district’s preparedness for Census 2027 and the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the ongoing House Listing Operations.

The meeting was informed about the training programmes conducted for enumerators and supervisors and the overall readiness of the district administration for the Census exercise.

Principal Census Officer, informed the meeting that all necessary administrative and logistical arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of Census-related activities across the district.

He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders and reiterated the district administration’s commitment towards ensuring comprehensive coverage and quality data collection during the enumeration process.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on ensuring complete coverage of all households, including remote and difficult areas, and on strengthening field-level census operations across the district.

Addressing the officers, Sharma appreciated the dedicated efforts of the field staff and encouraged enumerators and supervisors to discharge their responsibilities with utmost commitment and professionalism.

He stressed the importance of effective coordination among census functionaries, timely and accurate data collection, and strict adherence to census guidelines to ensure the success of the enumeration process.

Sharma directed all concerned officers to extend full support to census personnel and take necessary measures for the smooth conduct of House Listing and Housing Census activities throughout the district.

The CPCO further informed that for any query or clarification related to Census 2027, citizens can contact the dedicated toll-free helpline number 1855.

Joint Chief Principal Census Officer, Arun Kumar, also briefed the participants on the monitoring framework for field operations and emphasized the importance of real-time tracking and supervision of data collection activities.

Later, CPCO Amit Sharma also interacted with enumerators and supervisors and held a question-and-answer session regarding various aspects of the Census exercise. He addressed their queries and emphasized the importance of maintaining accuracy, transparency and professionalism during field operations.

Among others, District Census Officer Baramulla (ADC), Assistant Chief Principal Census Officer, Nodal Officer Census Baramulla (CPO) and other concerned officers and officials participated in the meeting.
