Amit Sharma chairs meeting on MietY Project and Community Innovation in Ladakh

Leh, Apr 16: Administrative Secretary of the Information Technology Department, UT Ladakh Amit Sharma on Tuesday chaired a crucial meeting addressing various significant initiatives aimed at fostering technological advancement and community development within the region, in the VC Conference Hall, Civil Secretariat, Leh. The Meeting, held in the presence of key stakeholders, focused on the progressive steps made in the MietY Project of UoL (University of Ladakh) and the Atal Community Innovation Centre, under the aegis of NITI Aayog.
Secretary IT Amit Sharma emphasized the crucial role these initiatives play in boosting Ladakh towards a technologically empowered and innovation-driven future in the presence of the Vice Chancellor and other stakeholders.
Highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts, Amit Sharma stressed the need for synergy among academia, administrative bodies, and industry stakeholders to harness the full potential of these projects. He praised the proactive involvement of UoL and NITI Aayog in driving innovation and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship within the region.
Furthermore, it was explored in the Meeting to jointly organize a Disaster Management Workshop tailored to the students of UoL, aiming to equip the youth with essential skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emergencies and mitigate risks.
Secretary Amit Sharma reiterated ensuring the safety and resilience of the local community through such proactive measures. The discussions also covered the vital topic of Hydro-Carbon, exchanging insights on sustainable energy practices and the exploration of renewable energy sources to meet Ladakh’s growing energy demands while preserving its pristine environment.
As the meeting concluded, Secretary Amit Sharma expressed confidence about the transformative impact of these initiatives and called upon all stakeholders to intensify their efforts in realizing Ladakh’s vision of inclusive growth, technological excellence, and sustainable development.
The Meeting was attended by Prof. S. K. Mehta, Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Phunchok Paldan Director of NIC Ladakh, Mohit Sharma, Under Secretary, RDD, UT Ladakh, AO, IT Department, Dr Subrat Sharma, Dean Research, UoL, Dr Joldan, Dean Academics, UoL, Showkat Ali, Scientist-B, NIC Ladakh, Dr Mohd Rafee, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Management, UT Ladakh, Dr Stanzin Mentok, Assistant Professor, Jigmet Stobdan, Assistant Professor, Konchok, IT Expert, UoL, IT Consultant of IT Department, UT Ladakh and concerned IT Managers.
