Jammu, May 15
Home minister Amit Shah is arriving in Srinagar for two-days from Thursday, BJP sources informed here today.
A top leader of the J&K BJP stated, “The main purpose of Amit Shah’s visit to Kashmir during LokSabha elections is political outreach,” emphasizing, “Our main focus is to ensure the defeat of Cong, NC, and PDP in Baramulla and Rajouri-Poonch-AnantnagLokSabha seats.”
“The Home Minister will arrive here tomorrow evening and meet several delegations and will also strategise with party leaders and also conduct security review meeting,” informed former cabinet minister and BJP general secretary, DrDevenderManyal to Rising Kashmir, while noting that the purpose of the visit remains undisclosed.
During his visit, the Union Home Minister will discuss the BJP’s strategy with party leaders, specifically for Baramulla and Rajouri-Anantnag seats.
Meanwhile, the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) has also declared its support for parties opposing the Congress, National Conference (NC), and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2024 LokSabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
TarunChugh, BJP national general secretary, urged voters in J&K to “teach a lifetime lesson to the families of Abdullahs, Muftis, and Gandhis for depriving the people of development to fill their family coffers.” Chugh made these remarks during public meetings in the AnantnagLokSabha constituency.
The Srinagar constituency has already conducted polls on May 13.
On April 16, Shah while addressing an election rally at Paloura in Jammu said that the BJP was not in a hurry to see ‘lotus bloom’ in the Valley, implying it was not fielding any candidates for the Valley LokSabha seats. He had also stated, “We are not going to conquer Kashmir as is being projected by our adversaries. We want to win every heart of Kashmir”.
Meanwhile, sources also said that delegations from the Pahari community, trade bodies and civil society are scheduled to meet the Home Minister during his two day visit to Kashmir.
