Srinagar, May 22: Kashmir is witnessing a fresh wave of tourist arrivals as travelers from countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, UAE, Australia, Canada and Japan continue visiting the Valley in large numbers.
Tourists are praising Kashmir’s natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere and hospitality, helping the UT emerge as a preferred travel destination.
A tourism official said 7,579 foreign tourists have visited the Valley till april , reflecting growing international interest in Kashmir as a safe and attractive travel destination.
Popular destinations such as Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Dal Lake are seeing heavy tourist footfall this season. Visitors have described the Valley as safe, welcoming and rich in culture, with many calling the experience unforgettable.
A tourist from Mumbai, Abishek, said his first visit to Kashmir exceeded expectations. He said the snow capped mountains, green meadows made the journey memorable.
Another tourist, Mayak from MP, described Kashmir as one of the most beautiful places he had ever visited and advised travelers to plan their trips carefully to fully explore the Valley.
As per a senior tourism official, International visitors are also showing growing interest in Kashmir’s adventure tourism, local cuisine, handicrafts and eco tourism experiences. British tourists are exploring heritage sites and traditional markets, while travelers from Germany are taking interest in trekking routes and outdoor activities.
He added, visitors from France are enjoying Kashmiri food and cultural experiences, whereas tourists from Canada and Australia are choosing nature based travel and lake excursions.
Officials linked with tourism development believe improved infrastructure and organized tourism activities are helping Kashmir gain wider recognition. Emerging destinations like Doodhpathri are also attracting visitors due to better facilities and easier access.
Tourism stakeholders say Kashmir’s appeal lies in its mix of scenic beauty, cultural richness and warm local hospitality. They added that better accommodation facilities, transport connectivity and promotion campaigns are contributing to the increase in arrivals.
With increasing domestic and international interest, the tourism sector in J&K is expected to witness further growth in the coming months. Travelers continue to describe Kashmir as a destination that offers peace, adventure and cultural immersion together, making the Valley one of the most sought after travel locations in the country.
