Srinagar, Oct 29: Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change have unveiled an extensive plan spanning three sanctuaries, aimed at preserving wild animals and combating environmental pollution in Jammu & Kashmir.
This comprehensive strategy, spearheaded by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest, seeks to safeguard the region’s unique wildlife and their vital habitats.
Key elements of the plan include a concerted effort to combat pollution and address the pressing issue of global warming in the region. Notably, the Thajwas, Baltal, Aru Valley and Dachhigam wildlife Sanctuaries have been officially designated as Eco-Sensitive zones, with a focus on protecting and enhancing the local wildlife population.
To ensure the success of this ambitious initiative, the Union Ministry has imposed strict regulations, prohibiting public activities within the designated centuries. Any violations of these regulations are deemed unacceptable, highlighting the government’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Kashmir Valley.
To support these efforts, the wildlife department has mobilized its workforce to provide the utmost care and attention to the Thajwas Baltal, Dachhigam, and Aru Valley Sanctuaries. This initiative is in direct response to the increasing human impact on these centuries, resulting in excessive deforestation and the disruption of natural wildlife habitats. These disturbances have also led to conflicts between wildlife and local communities, as wild animals encroach upon human settlements.
As a countermeasure, the plan emphasizes the establishment of a one-kilometer radius around the designated wildlife Sanctuaries where construction activities are strictly prohibited. This critical step aims to minimize human interference and ensure the long-term well-being of the region’s rich and diverse wildlife.
The launch of this three-Sanctuary plan reflects a significant commitment to the environment and wildlife conservation in the Kashmir Valley and sets a precedent for proactive measures to protect our natural world for generations to come.
