Alumni Meet 2024: NIT Srinagar unites over 100 Alumni for growth and collaboration

Srinagar, Oct 13: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar hosted the prestigious Global Alumni Meet 2024, on 11th and 12th October 2024 drawing together a diverse group of 100+ alumni from across the globe especially participants from Europe, Asia, and various regions of India, including UT’s of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The event was presided over by Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, with Prof. Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Dean of Alumni Affairs, as the moderator, and it was coordinated by Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran, Coordinator of the Alumni Cell, was a resounding success.
The 2 day alumni saw participation from the Deans and Heads of Departments across the institute, as well as alumni spanning various industries and sectors.
Throughout the day, discussions focused on fostering research collaborations, expanding internship and placement opportunities, building endorsement funds, and setting ambitious future goals to propel the institute and its students forward.
In his opening address, Prof. Atikur Rehman underscored the importance of sustained alumni engagement and highlighted the role alumni play in strengthening the institution’s global standing.
He applauded the achievements of NIT Srinagar’s alumni from building 3000 plus alumni connections within 6 months of time, emphasizing how their continued success reflects the institute’s mission to nurture world-class leaders.
Dean of Alumni Affairs, Prof. Sheikh Nazir Ahmad steered the discussions, facilitating an open exchange of ideas and initiatives that could bolster the institute’s impact on a broader scale.
Topics of particular interest included forging partnerships in cutting-edge research fields, leveraging alumni networks for internships, and collaborating on strategies to enhance placement rates for current students.
Alumni from Mumbai, representing finance, media, and technology sectors, discussed avenues for mentorship and placement opportunities for NIT Srinagar students.
The Delhi contingent, comprising entrepreneurs and policymakers, emphasized the potential for collaborative research initiatives with national institutions and corporations.
Alumni from Agra shared their insights on industry partnerships, while those from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh discussed region-specific challenges and solutions, particularly in sustainable development and infrastructure projects.
Coordinator of the two-day global event, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran outlined the Alumni Cell’s vision to strengthen alumni ties through networking events, mentorship programs, and increased access to resources for student advancement.
He stressed the importance of building a robust alumni network to drive future initiatives and support the institute’s academic and research endeavors.
The Global Alumni Meet 2024 reaffirmed NIT Srinagar’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive alumni community.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to realizing the institute’s goals and enhancing its legacy as a center for academic excellence and innovation, with many memories to cherish.
