Srinagar, Dec 11: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday expressed his anguish over the derogatory remarks made by an Allahabad High Court judge during his speech at an event organized by the VHP recently.
However, he applauded the Supreme Court (SC) for taking note of the reports and seeking details regarding the controversial speech made by the Allahabad High Court (HC) judge.
In a statement, issued here, Bukhari said, “It was truly painful to witness a sitting High Court judge making derogatory remarks about a specific community during his speech at a religious event.”
The Apni Party chief commended the highest court of the country for initiating action on the matter. “The highest judiciary has always been a beacon of hope for justice in this country. The Supreme Court (SC) has once again upheld this hope by taking note of the reports and seeking details regarding the speech made by Allahabad High Court judge,” he said. “This action by the SC reflects a strong judicial system committed to protecting the secular values and democratic spirit of our nation.”
Meanwhile, Bukhari lauded the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for successfully facilitating the safe evacuation of all 75 stranded Indian nationals, including 44 from Jammu and Kashmir.
“These efforts once again prove that, for India, the safety and security of its nationals abroad always remain a top priority in times of crisis,” he said
The Apni Party president said, “I am relieved to know that all the stranded Indian nationals, including 44 from Jammu and Kashmir, have been evacuated from Syria. The MEA has confirmed that these Indian citizens have safely crossed into Lebanon and will return to India on available commercial flights.”
He added, “The safe and secure evacuation was made possible through the well-coordinated efforts of the Indian embassies in Damascus and Beirut, under the supervision of the MEA. These efforts are really commendable and once again prove that, for India, the safety and security of its nationals abroad always remain a top priority during times of crisis.”
