Jammu, Sept 11: In a significant development, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Command Army Commander, revealed that the top commanders of various terror outfits operating in Jammu and Kashmir have been successfully eliminated, leading to a notable decline in local support for terrorists.
Addressing the media during the inauguration of the three-day North Tech Symposium at IIT Jammu, General Upendra Dwivedi underscored that these developments have left neighbouring elements frustrated.
General Dwivedi stated, “The number of foreign terrorists neutralized this year has surged significantly, with a fourfold increase compared to local terrorists. This alarming trend indicates a heightened effort from across the border to disrupt peace in the region.”
“This year, a total of 46 terrorists have been neutralized, out of which a staggering 37 were identified as foreign nationals—a stark contrast to previous years where local terrorists were predominant,” he added.
General Dwivedi emphasized, “Our neighbouring country is growing increasingly frustrated, and relentless attempts are being made to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir. However, we remain committed to thwarting any such attempts and maintaining peace in the region.”
In response to a query, he disclosed that 29 of the foreign terrorists killed this year were specifically targeted in the southern region of Pir Panchal in Jammu.
General Dwivedi, further, emphasized that the Northern Command is responsible for safeguarding not only the Line of Control (LOC) but also the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He highlighted the significance of upgrading technology, noting that it would enhance the capabilities of the Indian Army and strengthen the Armed Forces.
