The Akhila Bharatha Gau Seva Foundation on Friday launched a Yatra (march) from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the protection of the sacred Cow. The Padyatra, which started from the Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, as per ABGSF will cover 14 states, travelling approximately 6,000 kilometres in six months.

This foot march , as per the organisation is for the deep connection between preserving the Earth and the sacred cow in Indian culture.

The yatra will pass through Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka before reaching Kanyakumari. This journey is being conducted to highlight the importance of saving cows and promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Bala Krishna Guruswamy, Founder President of the Akhila Bharatha Gau Seva Foundation, explained the purpose of the yatra. He said, “I am a citizen of this country, and it is my duty to protect the country, its soil, and the future generations. In 15-20 years, nothing will grow in this soil if we don’t act now. The farming we do, the land we cultivate, all need protection.

Together, we must prevent our land from becoming barren. Cow dung and urine are valuable resources. We must stop foreign organisations from spreading poison in our land, like the Green Revolution did.”

“Forty percent of our earnings go to hospitals because of the health problems caused by this poison. There is a huge medical mafia we need to stop. We want to save the Earth, our environment, and the health of future generations. Foreign countries have launched rockets using cow dung, and even Pakistan is now trying to save indigenous cows. Countries like Israel and Brazil have taken Indian cows for their benefits. We cannot let our cows and environment be neglected. Our 6,000-kilometre padyatra is a call to protect the Earth.” he added.

The President of ABGSF also stressed on the importance of raising awareness among citizens, urging them to question political leaders about the future of the environment. He said, “This is not about any political party or time. It is about our country, India, and the strength of its people. We are taking this padyatra seriously, sleeping on roads, risking our lives to protect this land. It is our duty as Indians to save the Earth.”

Jimesh Joshi, a team member of the yatra, said, “Bharat Mata ki Jai! Today, we are going on a padyatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to save the Earth. As our leader Amit Shah said, we want the cow to be declared the Mother of the Nation.” he added,” Until this happens, our movement will continue. Every person should rear a cow in their home for the health benefits it provides.”

Sheraz Zaman, another team member from Kashmir, also spoke about the importance of protecting all animals. “This padyatra has one purpose: to raise awareness about the animals getting extinct from our land, which directly affects our health. Chemical fertilisers are harming us, and we want to promote organic methods. We also want to send a message that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are peaceful and want harmony with the rest of India,” Zaman said. (ANI)
