AIP seeks clear, time-bound policy for regularisation of workers

Srinagar, Dec 31: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Wednesday urged the J&K government to announce a clear, time-bound policy for the regularisation of daily wagers, DRWs, SPOs, ad-hoc appointees, contractual staff, and consolidated employees, saying prolonged uncertainty has pushed thousands of families into distress. AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, in a statement issued here, said that although the government has discussed evolving a mechanism, workers on the ground still see no closure. “A committee doesn’t feed a household. These are not files; these are families. They are not temporary in service, only in recognition. Promises and committees cannot replace dignity and stability,” he said. Inam said the issue is humanitarian as much as administrative, demanding the clearance of pending dues, minimum wage protection, and basic service benefits alongside regularisation. "AIP will continue to raise the matter until a just, transparent, and enforceable policy brings long-overdue relief to workers who have already given the prime of their lives in service of the public," he added.
