Devsar (Kulgam), Aug 25: The Awami Itihad Party (AIP) has nominated a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) scholar as their candidate for the Devsar assembly constituency in South Kashmir, marking the party’s shift from North to South Kashmir.
Dr Suhail Ahmad Bhat, 35, who holds a PhD in Education from Rajasthan University and a trained Veterinary Pharmacist, is making his political debut on the AIP ticket in the Devsar constituency.
Bhat told Rising Kashmir that AIP has now captured the hearts of the people, and on September 18th, those hearts will bloom as the party, led by its supremo Er. Rashid will achieve success.
“The politicians who sold our education—we will sell their politics. The anger and anguish that has persisted for decades, with us being deceived in every aspect of life, will now be confronted. We will strive to address the developmental and other issues that have been left unfinished over the decades,” he said.
He said that people must also realize the importance of standing up, taking bold stances, showing politicians their true faces, and pursuing the path of development. He quoted a verse: “Watheu Badlev Panun Taqdeer; Karo Tameer Nov Kashmir.”
“These elections are not about parties; they are about making decisions on development and addressing the regional issues of the constituency. We should also unite and not be divided for the greater benefit of society,” he said.
Notably, AIP, which recently won the parliamentary seat in Baramullah by a significant margin, now plans to expand the party’s reach throughout Kashmir and challenge the dominant political parties in the valley. The party has already officially announced the names of some candidates and is considering announcing candidates for most of the 90 total seats.
