Srinagar, Oct 01: In a high-level meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, key issues related to ‘Future-Ready Governance’ were discussed today.
The meeting saw the participation of prominent figures, including Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary;. Anurag Goel, former Union Secretary; Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University; Prof. Nilofer Khan, VC of Kashmir University; Dr. Nazir A. Ganai, VC of SKUAST Kashmir; Dr. BN Tripathi, VC of SKUAST Jammu; Sh. Anurag Goyal, Advisor from NITI Aayog; Sh. Shaleen Kabra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Jal Shakti Department; Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, along with Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and senior officers.
The primary objective of this workshop and today’s meeting, organized by the Planning Development & Monitoring Department, was to formulate a roadmap that integrates technological advancements into the governance system, aiming to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha emphasized the importance of embracing Artificial Intelligence and modern technological tools to enhance the planning of government schemes and improve public services. He highlighted that the adoption of technology and increased collaboration between humans and machines would lead to informed decision-making, streamlined policy formulation, and efficient resource allocation.
Furthermore, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for a strategic and integrated approach to address pressing challenges such as climate change, cyber threats, and issues in health, education, and agriculture.
He urged the Planning Development & Monitoring Department to prepare for a significant transition that maximizes the benefits of government schemes while minimizing risks and losses. The integrated approach, he noted, would help create a system of Citizen-Driven Policies.
To achieve the vision of a developed Jammu and Kashmir and India by 2047, the Lt. Governor proposed setting goals for the next three years, with a focus on agriculture and education as priority sectors. He expressed confidence in bringing about transformative changes in the years to come.
Anurag Goel, former Union Secretary and Advisor to IIT Jodhpur, delivered a comprehensive presentation on ‘Future-Ready Governance’ during the meeting.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the establishment of a nodal cell within the Planning Department, and Dr. Raghav Langer, Secretary of the Planning Development & Monitoring Department, provided insights into proposed initiatives and future strategies.
