Final preparations underway : BJP Chief Udhampur
Srinagar, April 09: Ahead of AmarnathYatra, the security arrangements have been tightened across Udhampur and adjoining areas. While additional security personnel are being deployed on highways and vital road links to thwart any untoward incident, officials on Tuesday said.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that all security arrangements have been completed in view of the Prime Minister NarendraModi visit on April 12
“Troops deployment along Jammu-Udhampur highway and vital junctions have been completed. Multiple checkpoints have been placed along the Srinagar-Jammu highway to monitor to keep track of the commuters. Frisking has been intensified along the major spots on the highway,” he said.
The official said they have deployed special teams to check the drone activity across the PM’s route. There will be round-the-clock patrolling by forces personnel during daytime and through 360-degree camera-fitted Mobile Bunker Vehicles (MBVs).
Apart from dog squads, the official said they will be using counter-IED equipment, vehicle repair, and recovery teams to ensure the smooth movement of pilgrim convoys. The Army helicopters and drones will also conduct aerial surveillance during the day.
He said Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel will be stationed in the city to monitor any suspicious activities. J&K Police Commandos along with CRPF personnel have been deputed around the Modi Stadium to pre-empt any untoward incidents.
“As part of security measures for the PM’s visit, three tier security cover had been deployed around ModiStadium,” he said.
The official said PM Modi will be received at Jammu airport by senior leader of BJP Jitender Singh, BJP Chief RavinderRaina and other party dignitieries. After that a special chopper will be used to ferry the PM to Udhampur Army headquarters, and after that he will board the vehicle towards the main venue.
UdhampurBharatiyaJanata Party Chief Arun Gupta told Rising Kashmir that “PM Modi will address a public rally in Udhampur on April 12. The rally will be organised at the Modi ground. Around 2 lakh people are expected to attend it, he said.
“We have made all types of preparations. Complete arrangements of food and water, and medical facilities will be made for the people coming for the rally. We will make sure that no one has to face any inconvenience.” Gupta said.
Polling in Udhampur is scheduled in the first phase of the seven-phase general elections on April 19 and Union Minister Jitendra Singh is seeking a third consecutive term in the LokSabha from the constituency.
Earlier on Monday, BJP state chiefRavinderRaina said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to address a rally in Kathua on April 10.
“BJP is gaining ground in the entire Jammu and Kashmir. Only the BJP is visible among the people. Opposition parties do not have public support,” Raina said.
