Srinagar, May 18: Srinagar is preparing for the upcoming G-20 Summit by beautifying its lakes and enhancing the overall aesthetics of the city.
In this regard, the Lakes and Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) has deployed personnel and machinery to carry out beautification work with a focus on Chout Koul and the cleaning of Dal Lake.
According to the Executive Engineer of LC&MA, the beautification work has been ongoing for the past two weeks. The department is working in double shifts to ensure that Dal Lake is clean and well-maintained. To achieve this, nine harvesters, two weed grabbers, and two masters have been deployed for the cleaning process.
The department has also taken steps to preserve the waterbodies in the city. Stone picking, bush cleaning, and pruning activities have nearly been completed in ChoutKol, and the remaining work will be finished in the coming days, as per senior officials.
The renovation of Char Chinari, a popular tourist attraction on Dal Lake, is also underway. The decks are being renovated, and jetties are being beautified to enhance the overall experience for visitors.
Apart from the water bodies, the entire city of Srinagar, particularly the routes that will be taken by the G-20 delegation, is being decorated. Mural paintings are being carried out at various locations in Srinagar as part of the smart city project.
The efforts to beautify Srinagar are aimed at making the city more attractive and appealing to both locals and visitors, especially in light of the upcoming G-20 summit. The authorities are committed to ensuring that the water bodies are clean and well-maintained, while also enhancing the overall visual appeal of the city through various beautification projects.
