Srinagar, May 28: The Agriculture Department Kashmir on Sunday set up different kinds of stalls at Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district as part of the annual festival of Mela Kheer Bhawani to show the local products to the devotees.
The stalls displayed different products like honey, lavender oil, vegetables, saffron, millets, dried vegetables, mushroom, sweet corn and other vegetables grown in Jammu and Kashmir.
Joint Director, Agriculture Department Kashmir (Inputs), Mohd Younis Chowdhary said the stalls were set up so that people from outside Kashmir could see the different agricultural products and vegetables that are grown in the valley.
“The Mela Kheer Bhawani is not only confined to Kashmir and Jammu, even people from outside J&K also visit and participate in it,” he said.
“It was aimed at people to see the different varieties and products. It will also help in the promotion of the vegetable as well as organic products,” he said.
Agriculture Officials in Ganderbal said different products of farmer’s were displayed as part of the annual festival of Mela Kheer Bhawani.
“It was aimed for the promotion and branding of the agriculture products and devotees get a chance to see and know the local crops and products,” the officials said.
The Department of Horticulture, Health, AYUSH and several other departments had also installed their stalls as part of the annual celebration.
Ganderbal’s Tulmulla village wore a festive look as hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits reached the historic temple to celebrate the annual festival of Mela Kheer Bhawani on Sunday.
The Kheer Bhawani Temple, situated in the middle of a natural spring, is often visited by tourists out of curiosity. Devotees offer milk and kheer to the resident deity.
