Agriculture Department Kashmir Celebrates ‘National Farmers Day’

Srinagar, Dec 23: Agriculture Production & Farmer’s Welfare Department Kashmir on Friday celebrated kisan divas across all the districts of kashmir division. 
The main function was held at agriculture Directorate Lalmandi Srinagar. An interactive session between the officers and farmers was organized in which different initiatives, interventions schemes, collaborative efforts were discussed threadbare feedback from the farmers was taken and different strategies were discussed.
 
 The Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal addressing the event in the eve of kisan divas highlighted the importance of coordination between the farmers and officers of the department. He said the best way to celebrate kisan divas is to increase the frequency of visiting farmer’s field and to make the farmers community more and more aware of the different programmes (Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Flagship Programs) of the Department.
 
Director Agriculture said that UT government has approved 29 projects under holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors, and implementation of these projects would not only energize the agriculture sector but will also change the economic fortune of farming community of the region.
 
 Director Agriculture asked the farmers for their cooperation during the implantation of different projects and programmes, he said it is the cooperation between the farmers and the officers/officials of the department that decides the successful implementation of a project.
 
 Chowdhury Iqbal impressed upon officers to work with the representatives of Panchayat Raj institutions during the implementation of different centrally sponsored schemes. Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Syeed Peer, Deputy Director Planning Mohammad Younis Chowdhury, a large number of progressive farmers among others was present in the meeting.
