Srinagar, December 12: After remaining closed for 3 days, the vehicular traffic on Mughal road and Srinagar-Leh highway will be resumed today morning, officials said.
A senior official at traffic department told Rising Kashmir that traffic on the highway will be resumed on Tuesday morning.
“Snow clearance on both the vital highways has been completed by the concerned authorities and traffic will be plying on highway on Tuesday ,” he said.
He said, “Over 300-400 vehicles were stranded along the both sides of Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal road from Saturday. All will be cleared on Tuesday.”
As per the traffic department advisory subject to fair weather and road clearance on Tuesday, one way traffic from Kargil towards Srinagar shall be allowed on Srinagar- Leh highway.
“These vehicles shall be allowed *from Minamarg at 1000 hrs. LMVs followed by HMVs upto 1300 hrs,” it said.
The advisory reads that no vehicles shall be allowed without anti skid chain. Security Forces shall follow the same schedule.No vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings, it said.
Similarly on Mughal road connect Kashmir Valley with Pir Panchal, the vehicular movement shall be allowed from both sides on Mughal road viz from Shopian towards Poonch and vice versa.
“In view of winter season, frost on road, LMVs followed by HMVs will be released from Behramgalla (Buffliaz), Poonch towards Srinagar and LMVs from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch at 1000 hrs upto 1500 hrs,” it said.
However, HMVs will be released from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch after the tail of up Convoy crosses Dubjan area and shall allowed upto 1500 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings, reads the advisory.
On Monday 270 kilometre long Srinagar Jammu highway remained blocked for more than 2 hours due to the closure of C-N Tunnel by the authorities. There was breakdown of 06 HMVs at various locations on highway.
On Tuesday, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Srinagar-Jammu highway. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing this traffic, ” it said.
