Pulwama, Jan 05: After covering all panchayat halqas and town municipalities, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has started marching towards revenue villages.
On Friday the VBSY reached the Dadasara area of Tral where a function was held at Government Higher Secondary School. Officials revealed that despite the chilling cold, the programme received overwhelming participation from people.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, who graced the event as chief guest, told the media persons that VBSY was started in the district on November 25, 2023.
“We covered all 190 panchayat halqas in the district and there are 69 urban local bodies wards in which VBSY is going on,” the DC said, adding that now they focus on revenue villages.
He added that there are more than 300 revenue villages in Pulwama. “This gives me pleasure to share that VBSY in Pulwama has been successful in achieving saturation of government schemes and delivering the Prime Minister’s message to people across the district,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner said they have framed a schedule to continue VBSY till January 25, 2024, to reach all those villages to which VBSY IEC van is yet to visit.
Dr Basharat showcased commendable sportsmanship by actively participating in badminton alongside students. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as students engaged in a spirited tug-of-war competition.
The DC commended the community’s tenacity, noting that the warmth of their participation in the face of cold adversity mirrors the profound connection between government initiatives and their aspirations. “Together, we embody the essence of VBSY,” he expressed.
