Srinagar, Sep 19: After three decades, the multiplex cinema in Shivpora Srinagar will be officially inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Monoj Sinha on Tuesday.
The work on this big screen was going on in full swing, and a month’s worth of work has been completed recently. According to the owner of the multiplex cinema, Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, will be the multiplex’s opening picture that will be shown.
The multiplex cinema’s owner, Vikas Dhar, told Rising Kashmir that it will be open to the public on October 1st.
People in the Kashmir Valley will be able to watch movies on big screens for the first time in three decades after cinema halls were closed due to unfavourable conditions in the 1990s.
According to an official, three sizable auditoriums with a combined seating capacity of more than 500 people have been created in the multiplex. The Dolby Atmos digital sound system has been installed in the auditorium to give audiences surround sound for the greatest movie experience.
Cinemas in Kashmir were operating properly until 1989, but they were forced to close down when a Pakistan-sponsored insurgency began to spread.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday also inaugurated two multipurpose cinema halls in Pulwama and Shopian.
“A historic day for J&K UT! We inaugurated multipurpose cinema halls at Pulwama and Shopian. It offers facilities ranging from a movie screening, infotainment, and skilling of youth, “he tweeted.
The owner of a multiplex cinema has urged people, especially to come and watch the movies after three decades on a big screen.
