Leh, Sep 04: The Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal, chaired a review meeting to discuss the ongoing implementations of the 4G Saturation Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh at Civil Secretariat Leh.
It is pertinent to mention that a total of 241 4G BTS/Tower sites have been sanctioned under this project to provide voice/data connectivity to uncovered villages & hamlets of UT Ladakh.
At the outset of the meeting, General Manager, BSNL, Leh, Hariom Solanki, provided a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on sites and land allotment details, tower work erection details, details of OFC, and routes and highlighted the obstacles, challenges, which impedes 4G Saturation Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The General Manager of BSNL, Leh informed the Advisor that 180 towers will be erected by the end of September 2024.
Highlighting the importance of internet connectivity, the Advisor said that Ladakh, with its geographical challenges, needs faster connectivity to remain connected with the rest of the world.
Keeping in view the weather conditions of Ladakh, the Advisor directed all the officials to ensure proper stocking of the required material before the onset of winters.
During the meeting, deliberations and discussions were held, focused on assessing the current progress of the 4G Saturation Project and framing strategies to overcome bottlenecks that have slowed down the implementation process in the entire UT Ladakh.
The project aims to enhance digital connectivity across Ladakh, ensuring that both Leh and Kargil districts are equipped with high-speed 4G internet services.
The meeting was attended by the Administrative Secretary, IT/ Telcom, UT Ladakh; District Magistrate Leh; General Manager, BSNL Leh; CEC (LAHDC); DCSO, 14 corps; and other concerned officials. District Magistrate Kargil, Wildlife Warden leh; Wildlife Warden Kargil joined the meeting virtually.
