Srinagar, May 13:: The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, said on Saturday that the administration is fully prepared to host the mega G20 summit in Kashmir and that all arrangements have been finalised in this regard.
Divisional Commissioner Bidhuri told Rising Kashmir that all places which delegates would visit during the third tourism meeting of G20 delegates have been planned and arrangements are nearing completion.
“Kashmir is hosting a historic event, and all venues have been prepared? Work on the historic Lal Chowk market, like Polo View market, will be completed in the coming days,” he added.
Div Com Bidhuri stated that in addition to Srinagar, delegates would visit the ski resort Gulmarg, where plans have already been finalised. “Wherever they (delegates) intend to visit or move, preparations are nearly complete,” he added.
Thetop administrative official said they are receiving great support from the people of Kashmir. They are excited to receive G20 delegates, and things are moving in a positive direction.
“They will be welcomed with open arms.The G20 summit will open up new horizons of opportunities for locals and will boost the region’s tourism industry,” he added.
The third G20 tourism working group meeting under India’s presidency would be held in the Kashmir Valley between May 22 and 24.
While deliberations during the three-day event would be held in Srinagar. The foreign delegates would also be taken on a sightseeing tour to the ski resort of Gulmarg.
The Srinagar G20 meet would be the first major international event in Kashmir since August 2019, when the J&K was divided into two UTs — J&K and Ladakh.
Apart from G20 members, the event would see participation of delegates from guest countries and several international organisations.
On the sidelines of the event, a major event will also be held to highlight film tourism, which the UT administration has been promoting in a big way in the last few years.
