Admissions @ IUST 2023: ‘An Open Day for Students’

Awantipora, May 29. Hundreds of prospective students from different corners of the valley   thronged IUST campus today on the eve of Open Day.
The event was organized by the Academic Section of the University with an aim to provide the applicants an opportunity to visit different facilities and laboratories and meet the students and teachers at the campus. Different departments of the IUST organized stalls showcasing highlights and introducing students to latest technologies, course highlights, scope etc. The students showed enthusiasm and visited different facilities in the campus including departmental Laboratories, Rumi Library, CIED etc.
The event was attended by hundreds of applicants and parents for whom the university had installed canopies managed by different departments and research centres that included Management Studies, Computer Science, Economics, English Language and Literature, Food Technology, Islamic Studies, Vocational Studies, Mathematical Sciences, Architecture, Physics, Chemistry, Journalism and Mass Communication, International Relations, Political Science, Arabic Language and Literature, Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo interacted with the students and their parents. He said that Open Days allow prospective students an opportunity to make informed career decisions particularly with regard to the choice of course depending upon their predisposition and availability of facilities, etc.
Speaking about the importance of the event, Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Dean Academic Affairs, IUST said that Open day is conducted to showcase our university and allow parents and students to see our infrastructure, visit our facilities, interact with the faculty and to have a first-hand experience of the academic environment within the university. He said that the university aims to produce quality human resources that are job ready which we achieve by imparting the right kind of skills and acquiring relevant knowledge.
