Srinagar, Feb 29: The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has ordered shifting of administrative control of two Urban Training Health Centres and Rural Training Health Centres to Government Medical College Handwara and Udhampur for training purposes.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to shifting of Administrative Control of four health facilities to the Government Medical College Handwara and Udhampur,” the H&ME said in an order.
The order said PHC Wadipora which is a designated Urban Training Health Centre and PHC Trehgam which is a Rural Training Health Centre, their administrative control has been shifted to the GMC Handwara.
Similarly, UPHC Bharat Nagar Channi a designated Urban Training Health Centre and PHC Garhi Tikri a Rural Training Health Centre, their administrative control has been shifted to the GMC Udhampur.
Health officials said the move is aimed to fulfill the requirements of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for the MBBS courses in the new medical colleges.
A high-rung official in H&ME said the mentioned health institutions work as an associated hospital of the new GMCs and will act as the center of excellence in medical education.
“Now the health institution will be augmented with staff and infrastructure and will work 24/7 which will improve the patient care and quality treatment,” he said.
