ADGP Kashmir visit Base Camp Baltal & Transit Camps Shadipora and Manigam

Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar alongwith other officers of Police & Security Forces today visited Baltal Base Camp and Transit Camps Shadipora and Manigam to review the final arrangements of Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage.

He was accompanied by SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Addl. SP Ganderbal and officers of CRPF, SSB and ITBP. The purpose of the visit was to ensure the smooth functioning of the camps and to meet with the stakeholders involved in organizing the SANJY-2023.

During his visit, the ADGP Kashmir inspected the facilities at both the Baltal Base Camp and Manigam Transit Camp for the safe and smooth conduct of the SANJY. Shri Vijay Kumar reviewed the infrastructure, accommodation, medical facilities, security arrangements, and overall logistics to assess their readiness for the pilgrimage. ADGP visited Joint Control Room Baltal, inspected working procedures, interacted officials from Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, JKP and Army’s Aviation at JPR. Later on, ADGP also Army Camp Baltal and observed functional aspects of Drone surveillance and Counter measures. 

Additionally, the ADGP Kashmir held meetings with various stakeholders, including senior police officers, camp administrators, healthcare professionals, and representatives from local authorities. The objective of these meetings was to discuss the existing arrangements, address any concerns, and ensure that all necessary measures were in place to meet the needs of the devotees participating in the pilgrimage.

Recognizing the significance of the pilgrimage and the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of the devotees, Shri Vijay Kumar directed the officers and officials present to fulfil every need of the pilgrims. This encompassed providing adequate accommodation, clean water, sanitation facilities, medical assistance, and security measures throughout the duration of the pilgrimage.

He also stressed upon the officers to manage the alternative routes at congested junctions for the hassle-free movement of commuters for the convenience of the general public. Well-defined protocols were emphasized to handle any contingencies or emergencies that may arise during the pilgrimage.

 

By reviewing the final arrangements, meeting with stakeholders, and directing officers to fulfil the needs of the devotees, the ADGP Kashmir demonstrated a proactive approach in facilitating a safe and memorable spiritual journey for all participants. Moreover, he took the opportunity to brief the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) NDRF and Mountain Rescue Teams regarding their roles and responsibilities as these teams are crucial in providing immediate assistance and rescue operations in mountainous regions and during natural disasters. The briefing session aimed to enhance coordination and cooperation between these teams, reinforcing their preparedness and efficiency in emergency situations to foster a smooth and peaceful pilgrimage.
