Jammu, Feb 14: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K Anand Jain Friday visited the training facility at Nud, Samba, where members of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel are undergoing special-ised training.
The ADGP also held a Darbar with officers and officials of the IRP 12th Battalion, addressing their concerns and inspecting welfare measures. During his visit, ADGP Jain engaged in detailed discus-sions with the core members of the JKP MRT. He stressed the importance of thorough planning to improve the team’s effectiveness, emphasising the need for a more vibrant and responsive MRT. The ADGP also inspected the mountain rescue equipment and observed live demonstrations of critical rescue techniques, including rappelling, ascending rock areas, stretcher-making, slithering, and Bur-ma Bridge operations.
The JKP MRT is currently conducting a 15-day refresher course for 34 personnel from various AP/IR Battalions (Batch 2) and 40 NDRF personnel (Batch 1). The course covers mountain climbing, rescue and search operations, and live demonstrations for rescuing civilians trapped in avalanches or other disasters. The training is being conducted under the command of Inspector Ram Singh, in charge of MRT for J&K Police. Following the training inspection, ADGP Jain visited the IRP 12th Battalion Head-quarters, where he was given a Guard of Honour by a smart contingent of IRP-12. He also toured various sections, including barracks, mess facilities, and the motor transport fleet. During the Darbar, the ADGP listened attentively to the grievances of personnel and issued on-the-spot instructions to address their genuine concerns. ADGP Jain praised the efforts of the officers and jawans of the IRP 12th Battalion for their dedication and hard work. He highlighted several welfare initiatives intro-duced by the government for the J&K Police and emphasised the timely resolution of grievances. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the physical and mental well-being of the personnel, advis-ing them to maintain a healthy lifestyle and engage in routine outdoor activities.
The ADGP further instructed Battalion Commandants and Company Commanders to expedite cours-es on New Criminal Laws at the Battalion level to ensure timely updates and knowledge.
