Jammu, Oct 25: The opening of the 2nd Rajinder Magotra Basketball Tournament was held here on Friday at Mini Stadium Parade Ground in Jammu. Organized by the Rajinder Magotra Sports Welfare Club, the event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain (IPS), who expressed his support for initiatives promoting sports and youth engagement.
The event was further graced by Guest of Honour, Ranjit Kalra, Deputy Director of the Academic Staff College, University of Jammu, and a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
The tournament kicked off with an energetic opening match between the RBC and BSF Jammu teams. RBC displayed remarkable performance, clinching the victory with a final score of 100 to 63. Standout players Gaurav and Pratanshu from RBC contributed significantly to their team’s success, emerging as the top scorers.
Following the opening game, the second match of the day saw RMSWC (Rajinder Magotra Sports Welfare Club) competing against the Court Warriors. RMSWC triumphed in this match, securing a final score of 49 to 32. Key players Pranav and Rajesh Bandral led the winning side with impressive scoring, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork.
The tournament, held annually to honor the legacy of Rajinder Magotra, emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship and community involvement, fostering unity and competitive spirit among the youth.
