Adequate security arrangements for smooth R-Day celebrations in Kashmir: Div Com

Srinagar, Jan 23: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Tuesday said that adequate security arrangements have been placed for January 26 celebrations in Valley and urged people to attend the mega event in large numbers.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Bidhuri said the administration has finalised all arrangements for Republic Day from top to bottom level including venues, security, and other things.
“We have also instructed all the Deputy Commissioners to review the security arrangements at their local level and stated that everything is in place for smooth Republic Day celebrations,” he said.
Regarding security arrangements, Divisional Commissioner Bidhuri said both venues and arrangements have been made in advance by the concerned agencies to ensure a peaceful January 26 celebrations. There will be no compromise on safety and security of common people, adequate rearmaments are in place, he added.
“We have extended an open invitation to people to participate in 76th Republic Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and stated that there is no need of any special pass or permit for individuals eager to attend the mega event,” Div Com said.
“The necessary security arrangements have been firmly established. The current situation, devoid of any imposed restrictions, is a result of the collaborative efforts of the public, security forces, and the commendable guidance of our LG Sinha,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Valley and precautionary measure three-level security has been deployed around the main venue Bakshi Stadium and other district headquarters in the region.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, V K Birdi said that preparations are complete, and essential measures have been implemented.
“Security has been strengthened, and we are committed to ensuring seamless celebrations, whether in Srinagar or elsewhere in the valley,” he said.
In Srinagar, Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the city and other district headquarters. Checkpoints have been established at various places, especially at the entry points of the city and other districts.
Both police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has intensified patrolling, vehicle checking, and frisking at various flashpoints in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley.
Another police officer at Police Control Kashmir said that mentioned that a comprehensive security plan has been devised, and the deployment will be maintained to ensure the smooth execution of the event throughout the region.
“Security officers are closely monitoring all entry and exit points leading to the city. In Srinagar, rigorous vehicle searches and frisking operations are being conducted by the police and paramilitary forces at various locations,” he said.
Meanwhile, amid major security beef-up ahead of Republic Day celebrations here, the Jammu and Kashmir police will be conducting an anti-sabotage check of railway assets.
These directions were passed by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Railways, Sunil Kumar during a security review meeting here this evening.
The ADGP directed all the officers to ensure that anti-sabotage check of railway stations, railway tracks and surrounding areas are being done through security gadgets and sniffer dogs, a spokesperson said.
He called for strengthening the overall security setup of all the railway stations and tracks in Jammu and Katra.
The ADGP took a fresh security assessment of preparations put in place and necessary feedback from officers of General Railway Police in the region.
 
 
 
Security beefed up along Sgr-Jmu NH: CRPF
Drones, CCTVs deployed at vital locations
Srinagar, Jan 23: Ahead of the Republic Day commemoration on January 26, strict security arrangements have been put in place along the strategic 270 Kilometers long Jammu-Srinagar National highway.
The officials revealed that special teams have been deployed for monitoring any suspicious movement and frisking of vehicles to ensure smooth R Day celebrations.
Talking to media persons, Second-in-Command of 137th BN CRPF, Kartar Singh said that in view of Republic Day, CRPF has increased the strength and nakas have been set up to ensure hassle free R Day celebrations. Checking of vehicles is being done and suspicious activities are being monitored. We are conducting regular search operations and are on high alert, he said.
“Troops are being deployed along the highway at multiple pickets and vital junctions. Highway is fully secure, Multiple checkpoints have been placed along the Srinagar-Jammu highway to keep track of the commuters. Frisking has been intensified along the major spots on the highway,” Singh said.
He said, apart from dog squads, CRPF is using counter-IED equipment, vehicle repair, and recovery teams to ensure the smooth movement of the convoys. Drones will also conduct aerial surveillance during the next few days, he said.
Singh further said that the patrolling of CRPF Road Opening Party (ROP) and Quick Reaction Team (QRT) vehicles have also been increased on the highways. The CRPF is inspecting various locations along the north end of NH 44 with the help of Special Trained Dog Squads to avoid any untoward incidents, he added.
