JAMMU, May 20: Security forces have been placed on high alert in regions along the LoC and IB in J&K, with additional deployment of troops, and patrolling has been increased in these areas to prevent any effort from the enemy ahead of the upcoming G-20 meeting here in this UT.
“Patrolling has been intensified in the areas close to LoC and IB and very heavy deployment of security forces has also been made these areas,” Deputy Commandant BSF, Randeep Singh Jamwal informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “the BSF is also patrolling in some areas of LoC as second line of defence after the Indian Army”.
The Deputy Commandant said more security troops have been called in and deployed in border regions across J&K to ensure that there is no infiltration and that attempts from across the border to disrupt peace do not succeed.
The security forces are on high alert in areas like Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara, Uri and other areas close to LoC and IB.
The security has also further been tightened in Jammu City ahead of the upcoming G-20 meet and the Police has also devised a strategy to keep an eye on anti-national elements.
Police has started a special drive in Jammu City to check the hotels and lodges which will continue till May 25. All hotels and lodges of the city, especially in Jewel area, Residency Road, Raghunath Bazar, Gummat, Chand Nagar are being subjected to intense checking and details of the people there are being gathered by the Police.
Apart from this, the Police personnel are deployed in civies across the city to keep a close watch on anti-national elements and those trying to disturb peace.
Additional nakas have also been put in place in the city and along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and all the vehicles are being checked thoroughly.
