Tangmarg June 10: On his visit to Sports Zone Tangmarg in District Baramullah, Additional Secretary to Government Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K Waseem Raja interacted with hundreds of young Yoga enthusiasts and advised them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and save themselves from the menace of drugs.
He said that yoga is gaining popularity across the world because of it’s numerous mental and physical benefits.He stated that yoga can help children and people of different age groups to cope with stress and thus contribute positively towards physical and mental health.
Syed Altaf Hussian SDM Gulmarg, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Baramullah Jantinder Singh and other officers and officials from zone Tangmarg were also present in the event. About 100 boys and girls participated in the event with great enthusiasm.
Later, the Additional Secretary chaired an interactive programme with civil society, panchayat members, officers, parents and sports enthusiasts at Town hall Tangmarg. The programme was organized by SDM Tangmarg and various officers including District Youth Sports Officer Baramulla, BDO Tangmarg were present in the programme.
The Additional Secretary appraised the gathering about the achievements and steps taken by the Department of Youth Services and Sports towards welfare of youth and other segments of society.
During the interaction, the Additional Secretary told the concerned officers to ensure participation of youth and other segments of society in sporting activities as per directions of the Government.
He advised parents to ensure participation of their children in the sports events being organised by the Department of Youth Services and sports and cautioned them against the menace of drug abuse and it’s ramifications on our youth. While mentioning the prominent sportspersons of the area, he stressed upon the need to identify and nurture sporting talents at a young age and deliberated upon the emergence of sports as a full fledged career option for our youth.
