Srinagar, Aug 06: Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 is being celebrated across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. During this week, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) J&K has been organising various awareness programs to promote vigilance across the UT.
ACB Srinagar organised programs at the Sub Divisional Magistrate Office Chadoora, Degree College Chadoora, Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Bemina Srinagar, and Government Degree College Bemina. Speakers from ACB addressed various issues related to corruption, its detrimental impact on society, and methods to check and eradicate it. They provided detailed presentations on the overview of corruption and its societal impact.
They informed the audience about the functioning of ACB and explained how the general public can approach ACB to register complaints. They emphasized the role of the public in combating corruption.
ACB Jammu organised a seminar at Government Degree College Akhnoor, attended by about 300 students and teaching faculty. Detailed deliberations were held on all aspects of vigilance awareness, with teams of officers from ACB and participants exchanging viewpoints. At the end, participants were encouraged and advised to join the fight against corruption.
ACB Udhampur held a seminar at Government Higher Secondary School, Tikri Udhampur, attended by hundreds of students, including NCC Cadets, and staff. Officers from ACB delivered a detailed lecture on eradicating corruption, increasing public accountability, the role of youth in curbing corruption, and improving service delivery in society.
ACB Rajouri conducted a seminar at Government Degree College Sunderbani, attended by students and teaching faculty. The seminar made participants aware of various provisions, rules, regulations, and government orders in place to combat corruption.
ACB Baramulla organised a seminar at District Police Line Kupwara, attended by police personnel of District Kupwara. A program was also held at Government Degree College Handwara and another at Town Hall Sopore for government officials of the Rural Development Department. Members of civil society also attended these programs, where legal measures against public servants involved in corrupt practices were discussed.
ACB Anantnag organised programs for officials of District Kulgam and District Shopian at District Police Lines Kulgam and Shopian. These events provided insightful awareness regarding the causes, impacts, and legal interventions related to government officers involved in corrupt practices.
In the coming days, ACB will conduct more awareness programs across the UT to sensitise all stakeholders, especially the general public and government officials, about the prevalence of corruption and methods to eradicate it.
