In a tragic incident, a newborn baby was found dead at sub district hospital in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Wednesday.
A health care official told Rising Kashmir that the baby, who was only a few hours old, was found inside a washroom by hospital staff in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
He said that the baby was abandoned by an unidentified woman.
“The identity of the mother is currently unknown and the police are investigating the matter,” he added.
The official said that the baby’s body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Health care officials said that a case has been filed in the local police station and an investigation is underway.
“We are investigating the case. The CCTV footage has been availed and we are looking for any clue in this regard,” officials added.
