Jammu, Oct 12: In response to a recent news item titled “2.5 lakh backdoor appointments in J&K” announced by J&K’s Chief Secretary during his visit to Kupwara, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu on Thursday criticized the government’s silence over the issue for the past nine and a half years.
The AAP in a statement castigated the government’s slogan of “NA KHAON GA, NA KHANE DUNGA” and pointed out that over the past nine and a half years, the Government of India, which was in a partial alliance with the J&K Government, has been conspicuously silent on the matter.
The party questioned the lack of a CBI or ED inquiry into this significant and illegal practice that has adversely affected the careers of thousands of genuinely qualified and deserving highly educated youths.
The AAP said the statement issued by the Chief Secretary, who is considered the government’s spokesperson, is of a grave nature and warrants a thorough investigation. It also questioned the detention of the Delhi party leaders Manish Sisodia and the “prominent voice of the people in Parliament” Sanjay Singh “purely based on the statement of an accused and approver, which cannot be relied upon as confirmed by the Supreme Court”.
The AAP raised concerns about the alleged Rs 13,000 crore scam in the Jal Jeevan Mission that implicates the J&K-UT government. They brought attention to whistleblower Ashok Kumar Parmar, an IAS officer, who has reported the scam to the SC/ST Commission and the Ministry of Home, yet no action has been taken.
The party has demanded a CBI or ED inquiry into the matter to unveil the real beneficiaries of the scam. It has also questioned the silence of these agencies in serious matters.
