Srinagar, Apr 16: Close on the heels of playing the World Cup at Tashkent, it’s again a moment of extreme pride for Jammu and Kashmir, Shreya Gupta, a rising and promising fencer from the region, is set to represent India at the prestigious Senior World Cup to be held in Athens, Greece.
The international competition is scheduled to take place from April 17 to 19, 2026 where top fencers from across the globe will compete at the highest level. Shreya will be among the elite Indian contingent participating in the championship.
A senior gold medalist of this year, Shreya has consistently showcased exceptional skill and determination on the national circuit. Her selection for the Senior World Cup is a testament to her hard work and outstanding performance in fencing.
Notably, four top-ranked fencers from across India have been selected to represent the country in this prestigious event, with Shreya being one of them. The participation of India’s best athletes reflects the growing strength of fencing in the nation.
Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Shreya’s achievement has brought immense pride to the region.

She has been practicing at Vijay Bharat Academy, Ahmedabad for last four years wherein she is getting competitive and methodical training from best coaches.
