DG YSS felicitates J&K’s national medalists

Jammu, Apr 24: In a powerful reflection of J&K’s rising prowess in indigenous martial arts, the Director General of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K, Anuradha Gupta, formally felicitated a squad of 16 exceptionally talented young athletes who clinched multiple medals at the National Kalaripayattu Championship held in Thyag Raj Stadium, New Delhi.

 

During an inspiring interaction at her office chamber within the Sports Complex, Jewel Chowk, the DG welcomed back the contingent comprising 8 boys and 8 girls and hailed them as the "true stars of the Union Territory’s sporting spirit."

 

The athletes’ medal haul was a standout performance on the national stage. Pritam Vaid, Chiragh Puri, Manvi Sharma, and Vasundhra Chib brought home Silver medals, while Danish Sharma, Suryedev Singh, Nitin Kumar, and Angel Gupta secured Bronze medals, making J&K proud.

 

Addressing the young medalists, DG YSS underscored that the Directorate is aggressively focusing to promote the ancient Indian martial arts like Kalaripayattu.

 

She credited the vibrant energy and dedication of J&K’s youth for this strategic transformation, noting that their efforts have been instrumental in positioning the Union Territory as a “vibrant and proactive sports hub” on the national map.

 

Reaffirming the Government’s steadfast commitment, the DG concluded by promising world-class infrastructure and continuous support to every athlete, ensuring that JK continues to shine ever brighter in the national sporting arena.
