CEO Poonch orders probe into quality of sports kits under Samagra Shiksha

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch has directed all Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) in the district to immediately verify the quality of sports kits and materials procured under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan for 2025–26 academic session, following reports of alleged sub-standard supplies.

According to official communication, a news clip highlighting the alleged procurement of inferior-quality sports materials under the scheme has been widely circulated on social media and is drawing public attention.

Taking serious note of the issue, the CEO said that any compromise in the quality of sports equipment directly impacts the health and safety of students and undermines the objectives of the sports grant component under Samagra Shiksha.

“All Zonal Education Officers are hereby directed to immediately verify the quality of sports kits and materials procured in their respective zones,” CEO said

The ZEOs have also been instructed to present sample sports kits, at least one complete set of each category or item, before the CEO for physical inspection and quality assessment on May 14, 2026, at the CEO office in Poonch.

In addition, they have been asked to submit a detailed report outlining the supplier details, specifications, billing records, and compliance with quality standards, along with the samples.

The CEO further warned that any laxity or delay in adhering to these directions will be viewed seriously, and responsibility will be fixed accordingly.
