Srinagar, May 13: Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party’s Senior Vice President, Ghulam Hassan Mir, on Wednesday said that the elected government has failed to provide effective governance and fulfil the promises the ruling party made during the 2024 election campaign.

Mir made these remarks on Wednesday while addressing a party event at the party headquarters in Srinagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Mir welcomed the new members into the Apni Party and said that their joining will further strengthen the party cadre in their respective area.

On this occasion, Mir expressed anguish over the elected government’s failure to provide effective governance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, “The ruling Jammu & Kashmir National Conference had made a range of promises to the people during its campaign for the 2024 Assembly elections. The party misled people with false promises and tall claims. It promised the moon and stars to the people, claiming that if voted to power, it would restore the abrogated Article 370 and bring back statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.”

He further said, “On governance, the ruling party allured people and sought votes by making numerous promises. It claimed that its government would provide 200 units of free electricity to the people,” he said

The party, he further added, also promised free cooking gas and an enhancement in the ration quota. “It had assured the unemployed youth that one lakh jobs would be provided soon after assuming power, and also promised the regularisation of daily wagers,” he added.
