Ganderbal: Chief Education Officer Ganderbal Oneel Kumar on Tuesday said that the Education Department is taking necessary measures to ensure additional teacher at Gohipora School in Kullan area of Gund so that students don’t face any disruption in their studies.

Speaking about the issue of staff shortage in schools, the CEO said that as per government directions, every primary school must have at least two teachers irrespective of whether the student enrollment is 8, 10, or 15.

Referring to Gohipora, a model School, where the student strength is above 80, he said that one teacher has already been deputed through the recent rationalization process.

He added that directions have also been issued to the concerned Zonal Education Officer for posting another teacher at the school.

“One teacher has already been provided through rationalization and more teachers will be arranged so that the education of children does not suffer,” he said.

The CEO said during the winter season, teachers from High School Sonamarg are shifted to Gohipora School, due to which there is generally no shortage of teaching staff till April.

However, after the reopening of Sonamarg High School and shifting back of staff and students, the department has again started strengthening the teaching arrangement at Gohipora model School.

He reiterated that the department remains committed towards providing quality education and ensuring smooth functioning of schools across the district.
