Ramban, June 01: The 84 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 39th Raising Day here on Saturday at its Tactical Headquarters in Chanderkote, Ramban.
Raised on June 01, 1985, at Group Centre CRPF New Delhi, the 84 Bn has been steadfastly serving the nation in various conflict zones including Jammu & Kashmir, the Northeast, and Punjab.
Since 2010, the Battalion has been deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, playing a crucial role in securing NH 44 over a 46 km stretch in Udhampur and Ramban Districts.
The Raising Day celebrations commenced with a Sarv Dharm Prathna (all-faith prayer) at the Sarv Dharm Prathna Sthal, where officers and personnel prayed for a prosperous year ahead. This was followed by a homage ceremony where battalion personnel paid respects to their fallen comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. A new flag was ceremoniously hoisted at the Quarter Guard, and the Commandant received the Guard of Honour.
In his address during the Sainik Sammelan, Battalion Commandant, N. Ranbir Singh congratulated all personnel and their families, acknowledging the battalion’s illustrious history and the bravery of its members. He urged everyone to uphold the values and dedication that symbolize the 84 Bn, CRPF, and the nation.
Demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation, unit personnel planted 200 saplings around the campus. A blood donation drive was also held in collaboration with the District Hospital Ramban, where 20 officers and jawans voluntarily donated blood.
Preceding the Raising Day, a Mela was organized featuring various food stalls offering diverse cuisines from different regions of India and a range of entertaining games. The Mela saw enthusiastic participation from unit personnel and their families. Competitions in physical endurance, weapon handling, firing, badminton, volleyball, and chess were also held, showcasing the skills and sportsmanship of the personnel.
The day concluded with a grand cultural evening, highlighted by performances from unit personnel. Smt. Rubeena Begum, a CRPF Veer Naari from Maitra Ramban, was felicitated during the function. Certificates and prizes were awarded to blood donors and winners of the various competitions. The celebrations ended with a Bada Khana, attended by officers, personnel, and their families.
The 39th Raising Day of the 84 Bn CRPF was a testament to the unit’s dedication to duty, community service, and camaraderie.
