8 die in road mishap in Kishtwar

Jammu, Nov 16: Eight people, including four women, died on Wednesday evening after the vehicle they were travelling in, skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Marwah Block of Kishtwar District.
SSP Kishtwar, Shafqat Hussain Bhat told Rising Kashmir that a TaTa Sumo vehicle, that was on its way towards Tatapani from Marwah , met with an accident at Alsar area. He said that the vehicle slipped on the road in view of the accumulated snow, and fell into Renie Nallah. According to police sources the incident occurred at around 6 pm on Wednesday, resulting in death of all the eight passengers travelling in the vehicle.
DC Kishtwar Dr Devyash Yadav also confirmed to a local news channel the killing of eight persons in the accident.
He said, “All other eight dead bodies have been recovered but an operation is still underway to rule out the possibility of casualty or injury of any other person in the accident”.
He further said that an inquiry shall also be ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.   
Meanwhile the police have identified the deceased as Mohammad Amin son of Ghulam Mustafa Sheikh of Chanjer Marwah, Umer Gani (driver) son of Abdul Gani Shah of Nowapachi Marwah, Mohammad Irfan son of Mohammad Ramzan Hajam of Qaderna Marwah, Afaq Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed Hajam of Thachna Dachhan, Asia Bano daughter of Mohammad Younis of Yourdoo Mawah, Safoora Bano daughter of Ghulam Rasool resident of Anjer Marwah, Muzamila Bano daughter of Zahoor Ahmed Malik resident of Yourdoo Marwah and Mohsina Bano daughter of Gulam Rasool resident of Anjer Marwah.
“A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at the concerned police station and further investigations are taken up,” a police spokesman said.  
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha offered condolences to the bereaved family members of those killed in the accident and directed administration to provide all necessary assistance to them.
He took to Twitter to express pain over the loss of lives in the accident.
“Anguished to learn about the loss of lives in a road accident in Kishtwar. My deepest condolences to bereaved families.” He directed district administration to provide all necessary assistance to those involved in the tragic accident.
Member Parliament of the area and MoS in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh also expressed condolences over the loss of lives and assured that all the help would be provided to the needy.
 “Just now spoke to DC Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav after receiving the news of an unfortunate Tata Sumo road accident in Marwah area. Eight persons have died on the spot, rescue operations in progress to recover other persons. All possible assistance being provided, further help as needed would also be made available. My sincere condolences to bereaved families”.Dr Jitendra singh tweeted.
