Srinagar, Nov 26: In a devastating incident on Sunday in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar, a residential house was engulfed in flames, leading to a fatal gas cylinder blast.
The victim, identified as 75-year-old Khatija Begum, lost her life in the tragic event. Three other family members suffered critical injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The fire, which reportedly originated in the Lal Bazar residence, triggered a violent cylinder explosion, intensifying the gravity of the situation. Fire and Emergency officials swiftly arrived at the scene, managing to bring the fire under control. While the injured family members are undergoing treatment, the loss of the elderly woman has left the locality in mourning.
Meanwhile, another fire incident unfolded in the Bohri Kadal area of downtown Srinagar on Sunday evening.
According to officials a commercial building near the ‘Bazar Masjid’ witnessed flames erupting from its top story. Fortunately, quick intervention by the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel prevented any loss of life or injuries. The fire was successfully subdued after strenuous efforts by the emergency responders.
Authorities from the Fire and Emergency Department emphasized the need for heightened caution during the winter season to avert such fire incidents. The chilling temperatures may contribute to increased fire risks, necessitating vigilance and preventive measures.
