JAMMU, Feb 23: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri on Friday hailed the Administrative Council (AC) of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT), which under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, accorded administrative approval for the development of seven new industrial estates and 2,000 new start-ups to generate about 30,000 jobs in the next few years.
“This massive investment and development is a testimony to J&K’s economic renaissance, which has been unleashed by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past ten years,” Suri said in a statement issued here.
He said all the previous governments in J&K including those of Congress, National Conference (NC) or People’s Democratic Party (PDP) kept the youngsters away from such start-ups, which would have given wings to their talent and expertise in various fields.
“Leaders of these parties also ensured that the industrial sector in J&K remained on ventilator with no new investments coming from other states or countries. The abrogation of Article 370, coupled with infrastructural development and liberal funding, has strengthened the hopes and confidence of investors, which is why new industrial estates have started coming up here,” he said.
The BJP leader said the new industrial estates spread over 5290 kanals of land and to be set up at Rs 304.51 crores besides the 2000 new Start-ups, for which a venture capital fund of Rs 250 crores has been set aside, will reverse the brain-drain, and also encourage our youth to unleash their full potential in the UT itself. “There still exist some leaders who are blind to this massive development and are continuing to exploit youngsters for their vested interests. They must look at the startups and economic growth, which our UT has been witnessing since the abrogation of Article 370,” he said.
In Jammu, the BJP leader said, massive development works are already going on, and in the coming days, the region will prove to be the most sought-after destination for business and travel for people from states like Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, as well as from the rest of India and the world.
“These 7 new Industrial Estates located at Banderpora Budgam, Sempora Medicity, Srinagar, Bhagthali, Kathua, Karandi, Samba, Trenz, Shopian, Hariparigam Tral Pulwama and Khunmoh, Pantha Chowk Srinagar would attract investments worth crores of rupees, which in turn will generate enough employment,” Suri said.
“The youth should keep faith in the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has a special place in his heart for Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
