68th National School Games U-17 Boys Judo: Extraordinary display of skill by Judokas as Jaichun, Saiyam, Babal bag gold

Jammu, Nov 09: The Judokas drawn from various States/UTs of the country showed extraordinary skills in different weight categories to emerge victorious and claim gold, silver and bronze medals for their respective States in the ongoing 68th National School Games in the disciplines of Judo U-17 Boys at Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar here today.
The bouts were held in three weight categories of -45, -50 and -90 kgs.
In -45 kgs, Jaichun Pansa of Arunachal Pradesh claimed gold, while the silver medal in this weight category went to Pundrik of Delhi. The bronze medals were claimed by Himanshu Pagare of Maharashtra and Gangayya Chikkama of Karnataka.
Saiyam Choudhary of Chandigarh bagged gold in -50 kg category, while Raghu Mehra of Punjab clinched silver. Chintu of Uttar Pradesh and Lucky Bidhuri of Delhi claimed bronze medals in this weight category.
In -90 kgs, Babal Deep Singh of Rajasthan won the gold medal while Rohit Panghal of Haryana bagged silver. Kartik Bhardwaj of Delhi and Koijam Bishwonat claimed bronze medals in this category.
The medals were presented to the winners in a colourful function at the same venue.
Accounts Officer of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, who was accompanied by Convener Technical Committee of the event, Tarsem Lal and Convener Ceremonies Committee, Smt Harvinder Kaur.
Meanwhile, the SGFI Officials and Coaches & Managers of various teams have lauded the efforts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K for making superb arrangements with regard to holding the games in a most befitting manner.
“I have been observing the National School Games for the last 25 years in different capacities. However, I have yet to see such a fantastic arrangement. The Director General Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara, the Joint Director YSS Jammu, Ved Prakash and other officers and officials of the Department deserve huge appreciation for the same,” said Sukhvinder Singh, Judo Coach of Rajasthan.

It may be recalled that U-17 Boys Judo event is as part of the historic series of events including Judo, Wushu, Fencing and Football being hosted by Jammu on the trot from November 7, 2024 to December 11, 2024.
