Baramulla, Oct 13: Thousands of devotees from across the Kashmir valley thronged the revered shrine of Kashmir’s renowned sufi Saint Hazrat Syed Janbaz Wali (RA) on the 605th Urs at Khanpora Baramulla, praying for peace and prosperity in the entire Muslim world, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.
Following a legacy, the annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Janbaz Wali (RA) was celebrated at the Syed Janbaz Wali shrine with great devotion and religious enthusiasm. Thousands of devotees attended the yearly Urs with great fervor.
Devotees, including elders, men, women, and children, gathered to catch a glimpse of holy relics after Friday prayers.
While paying their obeisance at the shrine, devotees prayed for peace and prosperity in the Union Territory and the Muslim world.
Malik Shabir, Secretary local Auqaf committe said that the 605th Urs of Hazrat Syed Janbaz Wali (RA) was celebrated with great devotion.
“Thousands of devotees, not only from Baramulla but also from other parts of the valley, attended this Urs today, seeking the blessing of Allah in the premises of the revered Sufi saint’s shrine” said Malik Shabir.
He mentioned that for centuries, the shrine of Hazrat Syed Janbaaz Wali (RA) at Khanpora in Baramulla has remained an iconic symbol of Islamic culture and civilization.
“The saint has taught us religious tolerance, justice, equality, and the teachings of Almighty Allah and our beloved prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SAW),” he further added.
Hazrat Janbaz Wali RA is regarded as one of the great Sufi scholars who came from Iran some 600 years ago. His main aim was to spread the message of peace, love, and humanity, the basic message of Islam.
Syed Janbaz Wali, according to historians, visited the valley with his companions in 1421 AD, opted for Khanpora Baramulla as the center of his mission, and was laid to rest here.
The locals welcomed the guests with great enthusiasm showing gratitude and love for the sake of humanity.
