6-year-old girl drowns to death at Doodhpathri

Budgam, July 21: A six-year-old girl drowned to death in Shaliganga Nallah at the renowned tourist destination Doodhpathri in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.
A police official from Police Station Khansahib told Rising Kashmir that the girl from Buran Pattan was on a picnic with her family at Doodhpathri when she accidentally fell into the Shaliganga Nallah.
“Soon after the incident, a police team from Police Station Khansahib immediately arrived at the scene, initiated a rescue operation and recovered the girl’s body from the Nallah,” he said, adding that the girl was then taken to Sub District Hospital Khansahib, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
The official identified the deceased as Aayat Maqbool, daughter of Mohammad Maqbool Ganie. “After completing all necessary legal procedures, the girl’s body was handed over to her family members,” the he said.
