500 athletes participate in 4th J&K UT Karate C’ship

Jammu, Dec 25: The 4th J&K UT Karate Championship-2022 sub-junior, cadet, junior and senior categories, organized by Amateur Karate Do Association of J&K, concluded successfully here at Sports Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. About 500 athletes from various districts of Jammu & Kashmir participated in the tournament.
JMC Mayor Rajinder Sharma was the chief guest while Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gull was the guest of honor. Rajeev Sharma, a member Sports Council and Rahil Gupta Vice President AKAJK were the special guests on the occasion.
The Mayor appreciated the efforts by the association to promote Karate across the Union Territory and encouraged the players, especially girls, to keep doing better in this field. He distributed medals among the winners in their respective categories and hailed the efforts by Ambedkar Gupta and his team to promote Karate.
Nuzhat Gull said the passion for Karate in Jammu & Kashmir is very high. Many former international players were present on the occasion including Sadat Mufti, Abhishek Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Tushar Jandial, Sumit Sharma, Poonam Slathia and Er. Palvi Sharma.
The district representative included Ajaz Ahmed Bhat (Kupwara), Moin Hamid (Baramulla), Tajmul Ahmed (Budgam), Raja Shahbaz (Pulwama), Ayoub Ahmed (Kulgam), Aamir Akbar (Anantnag), Rajan Jamwal (Jammu), Charan Singh (Rajouri), Rinku Sharma (Poonch), Munish (Udhampur), Anil Sharma (Reasi ), Amit Sangra (Kathua).
Padma Shri awardee Fasil Ali Dar representing Bandipora district and Tarun Sharma in-charge Cultural Cell BJYM, President Nat Manch were also present. Sanjay Kumar Tuttoo, Deepika Chouhan, Rajan Jamwal, Pooja Sharma, Neeraj Manhas, Ganesh Gupta, Arusha Sharma, Naresh, and Vikas were part of the organizing committee in form of different commissions along with the association’s office bearers.
