Srinagar, June 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained 50 individuals in connection with the terrorist attack on a bus in Reasi in which 9 pilgrims were killed and 41 others were injured, officials said.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that leads have been uncovered, which helped in identification and capture of those who may potentially have been involved in orchestrating the attack.
“We have detained 50 suspects to ensure a comprehensive probe, search operations have been expanded to encompass the far-flung areas of Arnas and Mahore. These operations aim to uncover further evidence and apprehend terrorists who may be hiding in these remote regions,” he said.
The police officer said that law enforcement agencies are committed to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure safety and security of all residents and visitors in the area.
On Sunday, terrorists attacked a 53 seater pilgrims bus in Kanda in Reasi district in which 9 pilgrims were killed and 41 others were injured.
SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma told Rising Kashmir that the incident had left the community in shock and grief. The detentions were made following investigations led by the police at Kanda Area Police Station, Pouni, he said.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately,” she said.
SSP Sharma said that investigation of this case is going on and detentions, questioning is a routine process during investigation of any case.
She said that they are tracking the possible routes that terrorists might have used and who provided them accommodation.
On Sunday, terrorists shot at a bus with 53 pilgrims traveling from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra.
This happened near Teryath village in the Poni area of Reasi district. The bus fell into a deep ditch after the shooting. As per police 2-3 terrorists, including a local helper, were involved in the attack.
Official sources said the National Investigation Agency (NIA), State Investigation Agency (SIA), and the forensic department have visited the site to investigate the matter.

No suspicious objects or persons were found in Narwal: Police
Srinagar, June 13: Hours after massive cordon and search operation was launched in Narwal area of Jammu following claims of terrorist’s movement, police on Thursday rejected the claims and stated nothing adverse was found.

A police officer said Jammu police responded swiftly and professionally to the suspicious movement in Narwal area.

“However contrary to the statement of lady as run by some media portal and national channels, it is clarified that there are no telltale signs, suspicious object or suspicious persons to corroborate her observation,” he said.

The police officer said there has been complete combing of the area supported by the CCTV footage analysis. Jammu police are committed to the safety and security of citizens, he said.

Earlier, police joined the paramilitary forces in searches in the Narwal bypass area on the outskirts of Jammu after a woman reported suspicious movement of two persons, they said. Further details are awaited.

Over the past 5 days, terrorists struck at four places in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts, killing nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan and leaving seven security personnel and several others injured.

Two terrorists were also killed in an encounter with security forces in Kathua and a large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.

Police attach house belonging to terror associate in Anantnag
In a significant move against terrorist activities, Anantnag Police on Thursday attached a two-storey residential building owned by terror associate Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Nabi Bhat, resident of Lohar Senzi Gadole, officials said.
According to police, the attachment was executed under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, following confirmation from the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir.
The house is linked to FIR No. 109/2023, registered under Sections 307 IPC, 3/4 Explosive Substances Act, and sections 16, 18, 20, 38, and 39 of the UA(P) Act at PS Kokernag.
This action has reaffirmed the commitment of the Anantnag Police to combat terrorism and disrupt the support structures that enable these nefarious activities. By targeting the assets of terror associates, the authorities aim to undermine their ability to fund and facilitate terrorist operations.
Officials said that the attachment of the property is part of the ongoing efforts to choke the financial and logistical support for terrorist organisations and their enablers.
This operation sends a strong message that the law enforcement agencies will not relent in their pursuit of those who seek to undermine the peace and stability of the District, they added. (ANI)
