Srinagar, Jan 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Tuesday claimed to have prevented 5 youth, including juveniles from joining terrorist ranks in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Addressing a joint presser of Police and Army in Pattan, Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure, who was flanked by Commanding Officer 29 RR Col. Banarjee.
SSP Baramulla said they have rescued five youth, including 2 juveniles from joining terror folds in north Kashmir.
“We have unearthed major activity of terrorists to misguide the youth and entice them to join terrorist ranks, Baramulla Police with Army’s 29 RR succeeded in preventing 5 youth from joining terror ranks,” he said.
Briefing the details about the entire operation, the SSP said following reliable sources, it was learnt that some youngsters are being enticed by terror handlers from Pakistan to join terrorist organizations.
He said on receiving this input, security forces traced these youth and after that, they were subjected to sustained questioning with the help of their parents.
“On their disclosure, it was learnt that these youth were in touch with terrorist handlers in Pakistan through social media to get recruited in terror outfits,” SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure said.
As per the Police investigation, SSP Baramulla said that terror handlers were trying to radicalize the minds of these boys. All of them are in their teenage and they will be now been handed over to parents after proper counselling, he said.
“Police and Army are firm on their resolve to defeat all nefarious designs of the enemy to misguide and radicalise the youth of Kashmir,” SSP said.
He urged parents are requested to keep a vigil on the activities of their children and cooperate with the Police. Keep track of their activities on social media and talk to them always, SSP said.
“Our efforts will continue to prevent our youth from joining militant ranks. We wish a bright future for Kashmir youth and urged parents to cooperate with police and security agencies,” he said.
