5 arrested for illegal excavation, transportation of minerals

Police seizes six vehicles

Budgam, Dec 24: The Budgam Police on Tuesday seized six vehicles and arrested five persons who were involved in the illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in the Samson Khansahib area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A police official said that police have seized six vehicles used in the illegal transport of minerals, which include five tippers bearing registration numbers JK14C-1705, JK03B-9020, JK05G-5212, JK13-1231, and JK03B-2072, and one LNT’. 

 “Fve persons were also arrested who were involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the area of Samson Khansahib,” the official said. 

 The arrested persons have been identified by the police as Tariq Ahmad Pandit, son of Ghulam Rasool Pandit; Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Ahmad Ganie; Abdul Majeed Dar, son of Abdul Aziz Dar; Sameer Ahmad Ahangar, son of Bashir Ahmad Ahangar; and Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gaffar Dar. 

A case FIR No. 198/2024 U/S 303(2), 329(3) of BNS has been registered at Police Station Khansahib, and an investigation has been initiated.
